The Daily Quest: Brohnjam’s Jam

Posted on December 17 2009 by admin

We here at WoW.com are on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere. MrVoletron is back with a brand new tune… and some tips on how to make your own remix! The retribution paladin priority ‘rotation’ is a lot more confusing than people let on. It’s not feral druid, that’s for sure, but it’s not exactly simple. The latest shared topic from Blog Azeroth was especially interesting to us here at WoW.com. What do you think of the PTR and the news sites that follow it? If that last link didn’t get you in a writing mood, maybe this one will. Last Friday’s writing prompt from Too Many Annas: Letters from the Front. OutDPS has a few hunter tips for the early Icecrown Citadel bosses.

Totem Talk: Patch 3.3 and shamans, part 1

Posted on December 14 2009 by admin

Totem Talk is the column for shamans,. Matthew Rossi ran ICC twice this week and will probably run it on 10 man twice more, and yet managed to take possibly the worst screenshot of all time, which he shares with you above,. Can you find the three shamans, including himself, in it? He sure as heck couldn’t. But it’s got a skunk bear up front. That’s nice. It’s been an interesting week all told. The new five mans and new raid are out (well, first four bosses of new raid, anyway… having both tanked and been melee DPS on Deathbringer Saurfang, I have to say, it’s an interesting mechanic but I’m already heartily sick of Blood Power, and I don’t look forward to healing it) and we’re seeing a couple of new mechanics and a new set of shorter cooldowns. I have to say, so far I really like the reduced cooldowns on our elemental totems. Now all they need is a pet bar, and not to die in two hits from any mob in sight. (I exaggerate slightly. Very slightly.) There’s a lot to cover (I plan on going back to discussing shaman

WoW Moviewatch: Trev and Eroth: Episode 1 – Desperate Measures

I posted last month about the trailer for this movie, so I’m especially happy to present the final release of Trev and Eroth: Episode 1 – Desperate Measures. Created by Giordano, this movie is set sometime between Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm. Troubled times force the peoples of Azeroth to take a hard look at their leadership, and Trev and Eroth are in a place to do something about it. There’s a lot to recommend this movie. Not only is the plot and scripting interesting, the visual effects are wonderful. Giordano has done a lot to raise the bar in this movie, and I’m very curious to see what he might do next. Giordano has really used new software to improve his movies, and my hat is totally off to him for expanding into new territory. Gender differences in armor

Posted on December 7 2009 by admin

A few readers sent us this post over at Border House that has laid bare (heh) the oft-mentioned differences in armor between the genders in World of Warcraft. While there are some exceptions, in most cases, the exact same set of armor (like this chestplate above) shows up as much more skimpy on female characters than it does on male characters. To the point of absurdity in some places — even plate leggings, designed to serve as solid protection to the legs, appear to be more like plate thong underwear on the ladies. As Border House points out, this isn’t just WoW’s problem. Fantasy and sci-fi in general have been the domain of boys in the past (even if that is changing quickly), and the sexual depictions in the genre have reflected that, for both traditional and financial reasons. As I pointed out the other day, all of Blizzard’s luminaries thus far have been men — is it any surprise that the game is designed from a mostly male perspective? And as BH also says, fortunately, WoW has lots of different gear. If you don’t like what your character
